We started on the evening of August 31st thru the evening of September 29th which is the start of the fall Holy day Rosh Hashana. We will then continue for an additional 10 days, which are known as the 10 days of awe, concluding with Yom Kippur service (day of atonement) October 9. The purpose of this time is to create a burning desire to grow more intimately with God and draw closer to Him. By giving up something (fasting) that we like; a meal, TV, recreation, an additional activity, sports, or an addiction, you know what steals you away from Him. This will free up some time that you can spend listening to God. I promise you if you make time for Him, He will make His presence known to you. This will create a more loving, meaningful and trusting relationship with God and that is what I truly believe we all desperately desire. Please see the attached flyer that we gave out to our congregation to help them get focused. Please stand with us. God loves you so much. He wants all of you including your heart, mind, soul and time with you. Yahweh is after our hearts, He does not care about our religion. He just wants to have a personal relationship with us. The question is do you want to have one with Him?

Prayer and Fasting Goals

http://www.shoreshdavid.net/Blog/post/30-Days-of-Fasting-and-Prayer.aspx mcstar.nospam@nospam.gmail.com (rabbi) http://www.shoreshdavid.net/Blog/post/30-Days-of-Fasting-and-Prayer.aspx#comment http://www.shoreshdavid.net/Blog/post.aspx?id=08a54ce3-ea96-463a-b048-637a78c5177e Sun, 07 Sep 2008 13:12:45 -1300 God's Holy Days Relationship with Yahweh rabbi http://www.shoreshdavid.net/Blog/pingback.axd http://www.shoreshdavid.net/Blog/post.aspx?id=08a54ce3-ea96-463a-b048-637a78c5177e 10 http://www.shoreshdavid.net/Blog/trackback.axd?id=08a54ce3-ea96-463a-b048-637a78c5177e http://www.shoreshdavid.net/Blog/post/30-Days-of-Fasting-and-Prayer.aspx#comment http://www.shoreshdavid.net/Blog/syndication.axd?post=08a54ce3-ea96-463a-b048-637a78c5177e Why is Honey served on Rosh Hashana?

The custom of eating sweets on Rosh Hashana is more than 1500 years old. It expresses the hope that sweetness will enter the lives of all Jews in the coming year. The practice spread quickly, and today on almost every Rosh Hashana table can be found a dish of honey or syrup.
